BACKGROUND: Aaron hails from the Outlands, a harsh, northern region composed of many feuding clans. As heir to his clan he had obediently, learned under the harsh tutelage of his ruthless father. In the beginning he was everything that a clan heir should have been; He killed his first man at the age of seven and diligently learned the teachings of the clan priests.This all changed when Aaron turned 13 and learned that his cousin Ruth was getting married. Married to a man who had already killed two wives. Ruth, who Aaron loved, and he was desperate to try and help her as well as comfort her.

His father caught their dalliance and had Ruth flogged to death, because he could not give away a sullied woman. He forced Aaron to watch her death and tried to re-forge the strength of his son’s allegiance by forcing him to kiss the bloody whip.

Aaron left that very night, no longer his father’s son. He travelled, going anywhere but home again, and became a thief. Eventually he settled in the city of Ischia, the capital of Cisali. Thieves in Ischia died under the lash and that was the death that Aaron was seeking.

However, Aaron was too good a thief, and spent several years in Ischia not getting caught. The only soul to break his isolation was Faharra, an ancient woman who was formerly the most famed gemcutter in Ischia. But then Faharra died, leaving Aaron alone again. In an attempt to honor her, he snuck into the royal palace to steal the emerald atop the royal scepter, which was her finest work, to place at her tomb. Instead of getting the emerald, Aaron nearly got himself killed, and found himself captured by the prince Darvish. Darvish was the third son of the King with the reputation of being both a drunkard and fool.

Aaron was dragged into Cisali politics when the Stone was stolen, the enchanted ruby that kept the active volcano that Ischia was built on from covering the city with lava and ash. Darvish was sent to find and retrieve as was Aaron as well as Darvish’s betrothed, a young wizard named Chandra.

Ever since Ruth’s death Aaron had kept walls up, isolating himself from others in a vain attempt to protect himself and frankly others. If no one relied on him, then no one would get hurt when he failed. But as he traveled and risked his life with Chandra and Darvish, the walls were slowly chipped away until both of them, and especially Darvish were let in.

INCENTIVE/FIT: Aaron frankly, has a huge problem with physical intimacy, and intimacy in general. Aaron had a ferocious religious upbringing in a society where homosexuality was considered a sin and punishable by death. He’s abandoned the religion of his father, but it is hard to let go of lessons learned so early. He loves Darvish, and wants to be intimate with him but it is still difficult for him. The city of Eudio gives him an opportunity to try and become more comfortable with intimacy, and gives him a reward to boot. Aaron’s wish is a simple one, he wishes that Darvish and Chandra’s rule is a successful one.
